Uptown Engagement Session Charm | Erica & Ben’s Story

When a couple tells me they want to do their engagement photos in the exact place they first met, I know it’s going to be special. For Erica and Ben, that meant heading back to the charming uptown area where their love story first began—a place filled with adorable little shops, cozy corners, and sweet nostalgia. It had been years since they’d been back, but as soon as we arrived, the memories started flooding in. It was the perfect spot for that uptown engagement session charm.

Where It All Began

Erica and Ben’s story starts like something out of a rom-com. They were both known for being homebodies—the type to opt for cozy nights in over loud nights out. But one random night, their friends convinced them to come out to a club-like bar uptown. Neither of them had plans to stay long, but fate had other ideas. They ended up meeting by total chance, and the connection was instant. They chatted, laughed, and danced the night away. The rest, as they say, is history. Now, years later, they’re planning their wedding and decided to celebrate their engagement right where it all began. Talk about full circle!

A Walk Down Memory Lane (With Cali!)

As we wandered through the streets for their uptown engagement session charm, it felt like time slowed down. Erica and Ben pointed out places that had changed, reminisced about their first dates, and stopped at all their favorite spots from the past. We even stumbled upon the cutest vintage bookstore, with shelves overflowing so much the books spilled onto the sidewalk. Of course, we had to get a photo in the doorway under the sign—it was just too perfect to pass up!

And we can’t forget about their sweet mini dachshund, Cali! At just two years old, she completely stole the show. With her little frilly fur blowing in the breeze, she posed like a pro and brought so much joy to the shoot. She was clearly loving every second of being included in mom and dad’s special day.

The Countdown to “I Do”

Erica and Ben are tying the knot next June at one of my absolute favorite venues—SkyView Golf Club in Sparta, NJ! (It’s extra special to me because it’s where I got married, too!) They’re so excited to celebrate surrounded by family and friends in such a beautiful setting. The views, the food, the vibe—it’s going to be unforgettable.
