(Rock Island Summer Wedding) Lea & David

February 21, 2026

Lea & David’s Rock Island Lake Club Wedding in Sparta, NJ

Lea and David’s Rock Island summer wedding was warm, joyful, elegant, and full of personality! The kind of wedding day that feels effortless yet deeply meaningful. Set on a hot, sunny summer day at Rock Island Lake Club in Sparta, NJ, their celebration was the perfect blend of refined details, heartfelt moments, and nonstop fun. From the very beginning, their day felt relaxed, genuine, and filled with so much love.

A Cozy and Joyful Wedding Morning

I began the day with Lea and her bridesmaids while my second photographer headed to the groom’s suite to capture David’s details and getting ready moments.

Then, Lea’s morning was casual, cozy, and easy in the best way. She had a small bridal party of just four bridesmaids, which created such a calm and intimate atmosphere. Music played in the background, laughter filled the room, and the flower girl danced around as everyone got ready.

One of my favorite details of the morning was Lea’s invitation suite. It was absolutely stunning! A refined mix of cream and mossy green with white florals, delicate gold accents, a thin ribbon, and the most timeless, elevated design. The mossy green color instantly stood out to me. Sage green has been everywhere lately, but this deeper, earthier tone? I’m obsessed!

Lea wore vintage pearl earrings passed down from her grandmother. As a result, it added such a meaningful and elegant touch. Her bridesmaids wore matching mossy green dresses that complemented the color palette beautifully and felt both modern and timeless.

A First Look on the Dock by the Lake

Lea and David chose to have their first look on the dock at Rock Island Lake Club. It’s hands down one of the best first look locations at the venue. Overlooking the lake, it was quiet, scenic, and incredibly romantic, making it the perfect setting for a Rock Island summer wedding.

Seeing each other for the first time was such a relief for both of them. David immediately felt calmer being with his future wife and best friend, and the moment felt grounded, emotional, and full of love.

Lea looked absolutely divine in a fitted lace gown that transitioned into a smooth satin skirt, complete with a V-neckline, long train, and cathedral veil. David wore a classic all-black tux with a black bow tie, and together they adorned simple white florals with a natural, whimsical feel.

Portraits Around the Venue (and a Quick Fix!)

We spent time taking portraits all around the property, by the lake, along the small beach, near the tall grasses, and in all the iconic Rock Island spots that make this venue so special.

Then, at one point, David’s pant tightener popped, and suddenly his pants were noticeably baggy! Without missing a beat, my second photographer and I jumped into action. Luckily, I always carry safety pins, just in case. We pinned everything back into place, fixed the issue, and were right back to having fun.

Just another reminder that wedding days are full of little surprises and that’s all part of the story.

Elegant Bridal Party Photos

After, it was bridal party photos and seeing the full group together was such a moment. Everyone looked elegant, happy, and so excited to celebrate.

They loved the cheering photos and laughed the hardest afterward. Then we split into groups, and I spent extra time photographing the girls because truly, they all looked incredible. The mossy green dresses against the lush greenery of the venue were unreal, and the simple white, natural-style bouquets felt timeless and refined.

A Sunny Lakeside Ceremony

The ceremony took place outdoors on a bright summer afternoon, overlooking the lake. The arbor was decorated with the same whimsical white florals, tying everything together beautifully.

The flower girls sprinkled petals down the aisle, and Lea and David exchanged vows in front of all their family and friends. They even included a sand pouring ceremony, which felt especially meaningful with the lake just steps away.

After their first kiss, they threw their hands up in celebration and walked back down the aisle newly married, followed closely by their guests as everyone headed off to cocktail hour.

One of the Best Cocktail Hours in New Jersey

Cocktail hour at Rock Island Lake Club is truly unmatched. It’s easily one of the best in New Jersey and a highlight of any Rock Island summer wedding.

The experience spans several unique rooms, each with its own theme and energy. There were multiple food stations, including a Mexican taco and tequila station, a BBQ and bacon station, and even a full-sized lifeboat filled with charcuterie (yes, an actual boat — lake club vibes at their finest). As a result, it was a beautiful and creative cocktail hour. Moreover, It was fun, interactive, and so delicious.

A Night Full of Dancing, Laughter, and Surprises

The reception kicked off with Lea and David’s first dance, which was half choreographed and half fun! It was the perfect reflection of them. Parent dances followed, and there were definitely some tears shed.

After heartfelt speeches, the party officially began. The DJ kept the energy high all night, playing incredible music that kept the dance floor packed. Lea and David barely left the floor. By the end of the night, they were sweating, laughing, and fully in the moment. David even ditched his jacket and bow tie, which made everyone laugh.

Then, one of the funniest moments of the night? The bridesmaids secretly handed David photos throughout the reception. It was boudoir photos Lea had taken just for this purpose. Every time, his eyes went wide, his face turned bright red, and he quickly tucked the photo into his pocket as the room erupted in laughter.

It was such a fun, unforgettable night.

A Perfect Ending to a Beautiful Celebration

Finally, Lea and David, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your wedding day. It was an absolute honor being your photographer, and I wish you both a lifetime filled with happiness, laughter, and love together.
